São Gonçalo Amarante - Airport complex

The new airport internationnal of Natal will be an airport complex built in the region of Natal (in São Gonçalo do Amarante). It is planned to be the biggest airport of goods and passengers in Latin America, with an inauguration planned for the end of 2010. He has to, in the next years, turn the new gate of entrance of the Northeast of the Country.

Of in pioneer's role and in importance which it has for the country, its construction became a priority of Infraero (Company responsible for Brazilian airports) and of the government of the state and Federal, with the support of the president Lula. It will have an initial capacity of 5 million passengers a year. The terminal, which will also receive goods, is considered as one of the most modern already elaborated in the sector aeroportuaire in Brazil, getting several sectors of the economy. The choice of the place by Infraero, is of in technical aspects and in its strategic location.

Of airport of goods only, it was redefined, to become an airport-city, with terminals of passengers, goods and spaces for hotels, etc.... The project was estimated at milhões R$ 500, with the cooperation of big foreign groups interested to invest in this project, companies of Spain, Mexico, United Arab Emirates. The airport will have the possibility to receiving planes Airbus A380, the most modern and big carrier of passengers.
