The Pitangui Lagoon possesses clear and transparent waters where you can a rest and refresh yourself after being exposed to the sun on the dunes. The lagoon is impressive large, being more than 100.000 m2.
The lake is accessible through dunes by Buggy or by a trail which you will find on the road along the beach in the South of Pitangui. It is part of the stops which are proposed by the buggueiros during the visit to the dunes of the region.
In spite of a depth of 5 meters in its center, it is shallow near its edges, for the delight of the children and swimmers, making it an ideal place for the whole family.
The lake attractions are kayak rentals and crossing the lake suspended from a thread 'Tirolaise'.
The place has a very good infrastructure, with bars and restaurants which can serve meals of fishes and seafoods, also being possible to taste snacks on tables in the water, surrounded with a myriad of small fishes.

As many names of beaches in the state, 'Pitangui' comes from the ‘Tupi’ language, meaning ‘Pitanga’, a type of fruit. The Pitangui Beach is occupied by a large number of fishermen's boats. Its waters are tranquil and protected from the winds. The north part of the beach is semi-deserted and occupied by a magnificent strip of coconut palms.
