Natal developed late its port and districts of the low city 'Cidade Baixa' or 'Ribeira'. Its most beautiful architectural example is the theatre 'Alberto Maranhão'. Created in 1898 of neo-classic style, it is a part of the historic and artistic heritage of the RN and has a magnificent hall.
Other place of the city architectural heritage is the 'Casa da Ribeira', an importante cultural place. |

The church 'Igreja do Bom Jésus das Dores', built in the first half of the 18th century, presents very interesting architecture.
