Just a bit after 'Tibau do sul' start the magic feeling of Pipa, you will see on the left side of the road a fantastic view from the ocean with its beautiful blue, and on the right the luxuriant vegetation and obviously the beautiful dunes. People comes also in Pipa for its night and its excitement.
Fishermen's village until the 80s, Pipa was at first the refuge of surfers. Beaches become renowned spotlights, national and international visitors streamed pulling a fast development of the tourism.

The Portuguese first arrived in Pipa in 1505, and attributed this name due to a big rock on the beach that looked like a Pipa (Type of barrel to conserve drinks). During the XVIIth century, the beach was the witness of a naval battle between Dutch and Portuguese.
Pipa is a beach surrounded by cliffs, covered in its biggest part by reefs, forming a very small bay where are parked many fishing boats.
The folk demonstrations of Pipa are 'Côco de roda', 'Boi of reis' e 'Zambê', the batucadas, the 'Lapinha' and Dramas.
