Around 8km long and 2km large, the Guaraira lake forms a beautiful bay specially on the point where it reachs the ocean.
The visit by boat in the bay offers numerous possibilities of knowing mangrove swamps 'manguezais' and shrimp farms, as well as of stealing in the numerous arms on the other side of the bay towards Georgino Avelino.
The Guaraíra Lake is the preferential place of fish, shellfish and shrimp which come to reproduce under cover in mangrove swamps, but also for several sorts of birds of the region which come to feed there. Sometimes the dolphins also come to visit the lagoon.
The nature around the lagoon is beautiful and practically virgin and made by vegetation of Atlantic Rain Forest (mata atlântica) and of mangrove swamps.

On the opposite side of Tibau do Sul, in the municipality of 'Senador Georgino Avelino' the inhabitants, the fauna and the flora lives away from the tourism.
