Barra de Maxaranguape is a peaceful place situated between the sea and the Maxaranguape River.
This beach is protected from the waves by a magnificent strip of sand lined with coconut palms, its name is “Ponta da Barra”. This is a peaceful place were the waters of the river and the sea join each other. The formation of reefs on the south part, makes the bathing easier at the banks of the beach.
It is possible to take a boat ride to the natural pools 4 km away.
The crafts of the community revolve around embroidery and the preparation of fishermen's nets and baskets. Its folk traditions are also still very strong. The village possesses a beautiful square, the meeting place of the inhabitants. Its carnival is very bustled, contrasting with the peacefulness of the rest of the year.

How to come : BR101, then go right, in the direction of Muriú. In Muriú set northward for 9 km.
The community of Maxaranguape maintained its fishing traditions, having a large fleet of boats, the most important of the region. This fleet`s shelter is situated in the south part, where the waters of the river and the sea meet.
